Montgomery woman arrested for identity theft
December 10 2024Auburn, Ala. - On Dec. 6, 2024, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Montgomery Police Department, arrested Shameka Nicole Brown, age 30, from Montgomery, Alabama, on a felony warrant charging her with identity theft.
The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report involving forged checks on Oct. 6, 2022. A victim reported that multiple checks were mailed to the intended recipients from a location in Auburn between Sept. and Oct. of 2022. While in transit, the checks were stolen, altered and deposited in a bank account associated with an unknown suspect.
Shameka Nicole Brown was developed as a suspect, and after further investigation, an arrest warrant for identity theft was obtained on Oct. 22, 2022. Brown was located by the Montgomery Police Department in Montgomery, Alabama on Dec. 6, 2024, and she was arrested in obedience to the outstanding warrant.
Moore was transported to the Auburn Police Department and the warrant was executed. She was then transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $5,000 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
